Mario Carrozzo joins The Human Experience Podcast

6th July 2020

As the World tiptoes back to the new ‘normal’ following the global pandemic, there are fears that the fall-out of COVID-19 could cause the worst global recession since World War II. However, troubled times can often stimulate innovation, because out of necessity comes inspiration and this can lead to positive change.

Recently, our CEO Mario Carrozzo had the pleasure of being interviewed by Success Coach and friend of 20 years Eldin Hasa on The Human Experience Podcast. Mario tells the story of a life-changing ‘twist of fate’ moment that inspired his decision to start Caridon Property.

In 2009, during the recession, Mario Carrozzo was walking down a road in Brixton when he came across a man living on the street – the man had lost his job, his wife, his house - everything. Despite being severely impacted by the economic downturn himself, Mario found a way to help this man off the streets and into accommodation. But, realising there were many many more people in a similar situation, he wanted to do more.

Mario identified a gap in the market to assist individuals hit by the troubled economy. Using his knowledge and experience as a landlord, he pioneered one of the first rent guarantee schemes in London, acting as a guarantor for vulnerable tenants who were struggling to find accommodation, whilst assuring a reliable income for landlords.

Ten years on, Mario has built a family of companies, the Caridon Group, which all work hand-in-hand providing accommodation to thousands of tenants, many of whom have come as homeless referrals through Caridon’s work with charities and refuges. In addition, Mario prides himself on employing people who simply needed a second chance in life.

To hear Mario’s journey as an entrepreneur, what drives his passion and enthusiasm for the work Caridon Group does, and his hopes of achieving a legacy of ‘making a difference’, listen to The Human Experience Podcast HERE.
