Making Minds Matter with Matthew Scott
13th May 2022
Matthew Scott moved to Imperial Apartments in October 2021. He is a man who understands the importance of positive mental health, uses walking as his own form of promoting positive wellbeing and is extremely passionate about raising money for charity.
Matthew has undertaken a series of walks to raise money for Mind, Second Step, Dementia UK and Children’s Hospice SW. However, for 2022, he has decided he will push himself mentally and physically to complete the Everest challenge.
He will climb a total of 29,000 steps over the course of 4 challenging walks in the Lake District, Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and Pen-y-fan Brecon Beacons.
Whilst in Wales in April, he walked a total of 30 miles over the 3 days and climbed a total height of 12,500ft, more than a quarter of the 29,000ft target.
As if that wasn’t enough, this week, during Mental Health Awareness Week, Matthew hosted a group walk with other tenants living at Imperial Apartments, promoting the benefits of physical activity on mental wellbeing.
At Caridon, we could not be prouder of Matthew and his achievements, and we will continue to support him every day. Naturally, he will need to keep replacing his kit to see him through the rest of the year and foreseeable future.
