Collyer’s student wins YST 2019!

Collyer’s student, Billy Venner, has won the Young Start-up Talent (YST) 2019. The YST is a community-based project aimed at young entrepreneurs aged between 16-25, looking to start their own business. The South East Showcase took place at Thales UK with a £50,000 prize fund, made up of a range of business products and services, which provides the chosen winner with the vital support & guidance needed to start their own business with a more sustainable future.

Along with Billy, the finalists were: Rebecca Fitzgerald, Anthony Mellor, Hlanganiso Matangaidze and Tom Gray; Tom Williams and Luke Baldwin. The panel of Judges comprised: David Kickham – Operations Director, Thales Group, Paul McConalogue – Director of Corporate & Commercial Banking Crawley & Gatwick Area, Natwest, Ana Christie – CEO, Sussex Chamber of Commerce, Tony Hyams-Parish – Partner, DMH Stallard; Mario Carrozzo – CEO, Caridon Property, Jon Maile – Audit Partner/Practice Leader, Grant Thornton UK LLP and Akeel Alidina – Managing Director, Caridon Property.

Collyer’s Head of Business Studies, Roger Raymond, said: “Billy is an outstanding student and young entrepreneur. We are incredibly proud of him and the other Collyer’s students who have enjoyed significant success in this competition over the years. Massive congratulations to Billy – his success is thoroughly deserved!”
