Caridon Property supports the scale-up of Housing First
23rd July 2020
Notwithstanding the misery and suffering caused by COVID-19, a glimmer of positivity has emerged in the form of a united commitment with Homeless Link to end homelessness. With major new investment in move-on housing and support announced by Government this week, Caridon Property has joined a group of leading homelessness stakeholders representing social landlords, local authorities and homelessness services in England, in a campaign to scale up Housing First and outline what is needed from Government to make that happen.
Mario Carrozzo, CEO of Caridon Property, part of Caridon Group, comments:
“We have a rare and limited opportunity to tackle homelessness, not only by ensuring people who are homeless are given access to long-term move-on accommodation, but by ensuring they are provided with the right support to take positive steps for their future, be that by gaining access to the right benefits, improving their skills or seeking employment.
Emergency accommodation does not provide the stability and continuity required to meet the often complex needs of individuals.
Our not-for-profit organisation, Caridon Foundation, offers housing related support to tenants who are deemed vulnerable within the community. We know that Greater funding for move-on supported accommodation and collaborative partnership working is fundamental to helping individuals sustain tenancies, learn to manage their finances, and rebuild their lives back in society.
Now is the time to make Housing First available to all who need it and end rough sleeping.”
