Caridon organises Mobile Vaccination Service for their Crawley tenants

On Friday 12^th and Saturday 13^th March, tenants at our Crawley properties were given the opportunity to get their COVID vaccination right outside their home. This was all thanks to Executive Director, Lora Bencheikh, who approached Alliance for Better Care (ABC) about delivering a vaccination programme at Caridon, as well as the whole Caridon team in Crawley who gave up their Saturday to help make this happen.

Alliance for Better Care (ABC) is a not-for-profit GP federation, which not only supports GP practices to be sustainable, but also assists with partnerships in their communities so that they can improve the health and wellbeing of everyone they serve.

ABC is working with practices within their PCN groupings to deliver the Covid Vaccination Programme. Their focus from the beginning has been to help all practices in the region (East Surrey, Crawley, Horsham and Mid-Sussex) to deliver a safe and effective programme that affords local residents access to the vaccine as quickly as possible.

The project has required collaborative working with numerous partners including representatives from parish, town, borough and district councils. Along with enthusiastic involvement from the local volunteer sector, ABC have being doing an incredible job at delivering COVID vaccination services and resources at scale. They have already administered more than 100,000 life-saving jabs.

Lora had seen the progress that ABC had been making within the local community in helping people get vaccinated. She approached Matthew Cullis, Director at ABC, presenting how beneficial it would be for some of the tenants at Caridon to be able to access a vaccination service close to home.

ABC responded promptly and after much organising, brought their Mobile Vaccination Service, incredible team of nurses and volunteers to three Caridon properties in Crawley. On behalf of the 130 people who took up their service, and from all of our staff, we would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to Matt Cullis and his whole team at Alliance for Better Care.

Our tenants were overwhelmed by the incredible nurses and volunteers who went above and beyond to reassure them and provide a friendly and efficient service. Thank you for helping even more people protect themselves and others.
