Caridon Group Crowned Best Social Housing Provider
29th November 2024
Caridon Group is proud to announce its achievement as the ‘Best Social Housing Provider’ at the prestigious Landlord Investment Show (LIS) Awards 2024. The accolade, celebrated at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London, highlights Caridon’s exceptional commitment to providing innovative and sustainable housing solutions, improving lives, and fostering community engagement across the UK.
The LIS Awards are renowned for recognising the shining stars of the landlord and property investment sector. This year’s awards spanned 28 categories, celebrating excellence in areas ranging from finance to legal services, proptech, and social housing. Caridon Group’s win is testament to its dedication to tackling the housing crisis and setting new standards in social housing provision.
Founded in 2009 by CEO Mario Carrozzo, Caridon Group began with a personal mission to provide housing for a homeless individual. This act of compassion inspired the creation of one of London’s first rent guarantee schemes, setting the foundation for a company dedicated to delivering fairer housing opportunities.
Over the years, Caridon has expanded its services to house over 10,000 homeless individuals through Caridon Property, offering not only homes but also vital support services through its diverse portfolio, which also includes:
Caridon Foundation: A not-for-profit arm providing tailored support to vulnerable tenants, helping them maintain their tenancies, achieve independence, and transition to long-term housing stability.
Caridon Young Living: Specialist accommodation and support for young people transitioning to independence.
Caridon Eco: A sustainability initiative improving energy efficiency in social housing and reducing tenant utility costs.
Caridon’s model goes beyond bricks and mortar, focusing on community building and tenant well-being. Employing Community Engagement Officers, the company organises events such as summer barbeques, football matches, and wellness programs to foster connections among residents. Tenants also benefit from access to themed coffee mornings featuring job fairs, educational workshops, and health screenings.
Recent initiatives include a collaboration with the Palace for Life Foundation, offering football training and mentoring, and a groundbreaking project in Bristol that converted office spaces into 486 apartments, addressing the city’s acute housing crisis.
CEO Mario Carrozzo commented:
"Winning the ‘Best Social Housing Provider’ award is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to addressing the housing crisis with innovative solutions that prioritise community and sustainability. This recognition fuels our passion to continue improving lives and creating positive change for tenants across the UK."
Caridon Group also plays a vital role in cost-saving for local authorities. Its innovative approaches, such as converting unused office spaces into affordable housing, save councils substantial amounts on temporary accommodation costs while providing long-term solutions for families.
As Caridon Group continues its mission to redefine social housing, its focus remains on expanding its holistic services, developing sustainable housing solutions through Caridon Eco, and supporting vulnerable populations with initiatives that prioritise well-being and community integration.
