Caridon Group abseils for Legacy Youth Zone raising over £700

30th June 2022

On Friday 25 June, employees from Caridon Group took on the challenge of abseiling 18 meters down the Legacy Youth Zone building, raising vital funds for the charity which relies heavily on donations to continue providing young people with exceptional services and support. So far, the team has raised £715.

Legacy Youth Zone’s state-of-the-art purpose-built facility in Croydon provides a safe, inclusive, exciting place for all young people, regardless of their background, ability, or household income; and has an extensive range of facilities allowing young people to participate in a range of positive, inspiring and constructive activities.

It gives young people (aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities) opportunities in the form of three things they want - somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to, all for just 50p per visit and £5 annual membership.

Commenting on the abseil and service that Legacy provides, Mario Carrozzo, CEO of Caridon Group, said: “Croydon’s young people need somewhere inspirational where they are given the opportunities they deserve - and where they feel motivated to achieve their potential.

We have supported Legacy for many years, both with donations and mentoring to individuals – I’m not a fan of heights but inspired by the work Legacy does, I joined my colleagues for the abseil and it was fantastic! Every young person should have the opportunity to feel inspired and Legacy is creating that platform”

Grace Dench, Corporate Partnerships Manager forLegacy Youth Zone commented: “We want to say a massive thank you to AECOM, Caridon Group and Day Lewis Pharmacy for taking part in our Corporate Abseil Day. What a great bunch you were, taking the 18-meter descent down our building, whilst raising crucial funds for young people in Croydon to access our facilities and services.

“As a charity we rely on the generosity of the local community and companies to continue supporting young people in Croydon. This year we have £2 million to raise in order to continue running our vital services, and we simply couldn’t do it without the support of companies.”
